Speech Sound Play! An SEN-Inclusive Letters and Sounds
Phase 1 with Phonemies - Phonemic Awareness Mastery

Day 6

Goals of the Day!

We are now putting together words with Phonemies and Sound Pics! We will use the Monster Spelling Piano app.

We are going to do the Monster Routine, with the Number Strip. Some children will be ready to draw the speech sound lines and numbers, but let's all do the same today.
We will practise forming numbers 1–10, as well as the Sound Pics s, a, t, p, i, n.

The children will write on their name cards while saying the sounds, and we will call the register using the speech sounds in their names.

By now, we will have an idea of which children we really need to watch and will start recording their ability to isolate, segment, and blend words.

Grown-Ups Corner - Day 6 Preparation

You are going to see what’s working well, what to keep repeating, and which children can do more.
The goal is for children to become confident and independent, giving you more time to observe—less teaching, more learning!
You will see which children can already form numbers and letters and which are just beginning to learn. It’s important to meet the children where they are, ensuring that every child engages in activities in ways that feel like a natural extension of their existing knowledge.

You could use the race-track resource with cars!  This was a shared resource in our old members area.
When you order the core bundle you are sent links to these pdfs
Let us know if you would like us to create a new one! We pooled resources.
You could also put the track video on  the whiteboard and children Duck Hand the word and then circle the visual prompt on their sheet - or just say what it is!

Day 6 clips at home, nursery (kindy) or the classroom!

Kai is autistic. He is fascinated by the repetitive nature of the videos and enjoys being able to predict what will happen next. He likes to know what he is doing and to keep building on it. He thrives on spaced repetition.

Parents practice the monster routine while their little ones watch!

They are learning the activities so they can use them with their tots when the time is right, and model them easily.

The activities are seamlessly integrated into daily life, and children simply think they’re playing!
